Today, as in Osler's time, the gold standard in medical education is learning from a real patient. Today, however, finding real patients and the time to learn from them is becoming more and more difficult, leading to a crisis in clinical education. Multimedia learning allows us to create virtual patients that students can learn from when a real patient is not available.
